Health officials predicted a spike in new covid-19 cases after Thanksgiving and they were right!

Sadly, many local businesses continue to ignore the order. Restaurants and other businesses are operating without mask requirements, as required by

Pinellas County, for servers and other employees. Businesses are putting economics over simple methods to offer protection for employees and guests.

Sheriff Cracks Down!

This past week Pinellas County Sheriffs Office visited most business with signs and warnings about not wearing masks and social distancing.

The issue is closures. No one wants to close businesses! Spikes of coronavirus across the country are resulting in business curfews, restaurants being shut down and gatherings being limited by governors and mayors. We cannot stand another shut down in Florida and unemployment rampant.

We check temperatures of all employees daily and quiz each about potential symptoms. We maintain those records.



HOT SPOTS – If you are traveling in Florida the counties with high incidences of the coronavirus are:
Dade
Broward
Duval
Hillsborough
Orange
The safest counties include almost all of the panhandle, the southern interior of the state and Monroe county and the Keys.

The Good News – Death rates in Pinellas County and Florida continue to fall. Under 4 deaths a day in Pinellas County and about 20 average per day in the state. One death is too many!

Pinellas county once again extends the emergency order requiring masks and social distancing until December 9th. The extension of the order is here.
 


RESTAURANT NOTES: Both Maggie Mae’s and Backwaters continue to keep you safe. We monitor each employee daily with temperature checks and other symptom questions. Everything is cleaned constantly and table spacing is required. Masks are required for all employees and guests until seated.


 

 FREE TESTS AVAILABLE

 The county says just call this number to schedule a FREE covid-19 test – 727-824-8181 – there are four locations to choose from here. Many pharmacies are beginning to have drive through test sites at varying costs. We are also being told the Florida Department of Health can help with tests by calling 727-824-6900
